Day 8 - Week 1 of 2025 In the Books!

That's right, it's been a week already.  Its amazing how fast time flies.  The Year Experiment as I am calling it is know on its 8th day and starting a new week, so I though I woukd take a look back at the first post where I outlined the purpose of this "experiment" and listed the New Years resolutions that I was trying for this year with the full understanding that they are ripe for falure... So lets see where I am at...

     Jacob's 2025 Resolutions
    1. This Blog/Experiment:  The goal of this is just to make a post a day, with no real goal, format, content it may just be random content.
      • So far so good, I have yet to miss a day.  I am finding that coming up with a topic seems to be the hardest part of the process.  I thing that it would be good for me to take some time maybe once every other week and have a brainstorming session to create a list of topics, if for nothing else to have something to fall back on as a kick starter if I am drawing blanks for a topic on a given day.
      • I am also realizing how much my dyslexia presents its self in the free flow of crap that I commit to this blog.  I have worked hard over the years on the grammar and spelling part of it (sometimes I still trip up, spell check is my friend).but the part I seem to still have a big problem with is in the flow of committing my thoughts to digital paper, my mind has the tendancy to edit out words or at times whole parts of a sentence.  So, I find myself proof reading multiple times...  Hell maybe this practice will make me better at that..
    2. Loose Weight:  What New Years Resolution would be complete without a "Man I gotta lose weight" resolution.
      • I have started on getting back to restricting my intake and portion control that I had on lock prior to Thanksgiving and my two weeks of paid time off.  This same intake and portion control helped me drop 30 Lbs prior to the holidays.  So I think it will be a great start.  I do need to change up what I eat, to improve the effectiveness of this routine.
      • I have not started working out yet outside of making sure that I get up and walk around (2.7 miles)  while at work.  I need to actually incorporate a weight and cardio program to make what I am doing worth doing.
    3. Read the Complete Bible:  This is literly the 10th consectutive year of making this resolution and so it's a bit of its own tradition at this point...  This year may actually be the year this one happens.
      • I wrote about this one on Day 5, so far I have completed Genesis and am close to completing Exodus, I am currently on Chapter 37 of Exodus.
    4. Advance in the Knowledge of my craft:  Switching out time on the Cellphone (playing games, Tiktok and other Crap) for reading and self learning.
      • I am halfway thought my first book.  I started with refreshing on "Soft Skills and Communications in Business".  That's not the actual title of the book but it is the topic of the book, I just do not have it currently in front of my to cite.
    5. Advancing in my Work Life:  Move Up, getting a raise or moving out.
      • I do not have much control over the pace of this on, but I am working my butt off and knocking out the work.
    6. YouTube.... Maybe:   God knows that I have the equipment and I have done it off and on a few times... It maybe time to give it a real shot.
      • I have been cleaning up my.office and getting my equipment back in order to give this another serious shot.  I am currently working on organizing an event for scouting that wraps up in about two weeks and I will refocus on this after that completes.

So there, that's where I am at.  It's been fun...  Now to just keep it going.
